I’ve decided that I’m going to write blogs periodically about some of the cool clients I’m fortunate enough to work with. One of them is a UK-based venture called JEENI run by long-time client, colleague and friend — Mel Croucher; a legend in the UK games industry. Simply put, JEENI is a multi-channel streaming service for independent musicians and performers, providing a unique showcase to put undiscovered talent in front of a global audience. JEENI artists get to keep 100% of everything they earn from the sale of their music and merchandise. JEENI audiences are given the power to vote, donate and be rewarded too. …
I attended a wonderful event earlier this month on November 10th, in Sonoma County — called Harvest Summit. I go to a lot of events, but this one is truly exceptional. Dubbed an “innovator’s field trip”, it’s a gathering of some of the best and brightest minds in the world today — all hand-invited and curated from across multiple industries. We had representatives from technology, medicine, transportation, food, wine and so much more. This was the second year of this annual event, and both times it’s been held in an undisclosed location at a private wine estate in Sonoma County — in the heart of wine country. Both years, the settings have been beyond inspiring. …
Tamer Rashad, Founder & CEO of Humtap was a guest on All Access Radio recently, and if you’re interested in seeing what being a leader on the forefront of a major game-changing technology looks like then you won’t want to miss this fascinating interview.
Tamer is a business leader with a background of over 25 years of general management, corporate strategy, M&A start-up and business development experience in the finance world across the US, Europe and Emerging Markets. Tamer and I share a passion for both music and technology and Humtap is the perfect marriage of both in my opinion. Have you ever hummed and tapped a melody in your head that sounded pretty good? What if you had an app that would turn those hums and taps into original music you could use as a unique soundtrack, royalty free, underneath a video clip you create to share across social media? What if you wanted it to sound a little like Cold Play or David Bowie or another artist? What if you wanted it to have an ethnic flair from another culture, or wanted it in a certain musical genre? …

An eclectically accomplished musician and studio virtuoso, Todd Rundgren is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter whose music career has spanned nearly five decades. His musical style has evolved over the years from the simple pop of his early solo albums to the more complex progressive rock of his band Utopia, which gained Rundgren a devoted cult following – and beyond. …

You can have cutting-edge technology, the coolest company culture ever, and a great work ethic. But if you don’t have product-market fit, forget it.
Last week I was honored to join an invite-only gathering of my peers at the City Vineyard in NYC (owned and run by one of my colleagues, Michael Dorf and one of the hosts of this reunion event).
The gathering was meant to honor us crazy visionaries who saw the future of the convergence of music and tech over 20 years ago…and who lived in a crystal ball waiting for the world to catch up with our visions for what would be possible. In my case the future started at the beginning of 1988 when I was part of a small team who birthed the music and entertainment focus at Apple. …

The smartest VR and AI startups are already targeting this market — besides being good business, it presents an opportunity to actually improve people’s lives.

Despite meteoric growth, one industry has been curiously left out of most VR/AI discussions: music.
Many people in my world are aware that in addition to my years as an Apple employee (music & entertainment), I was also very fortunate to have been able to call Steve Jobs a personal mentor. The things we discussed and the insights he shared with me over time are an indelible part of my DNA.
Steve often crosses my mind, but even more so last week as we hit the 5 year anniversary mark of his passing. I can hardly believe it’s been that long! So I thought it would be fitting to share a few of the lessons and insights I cherish the most: …
